Meta-investigation of what Raxxla fundamentally is—planet, system, derelict, anomaly, or other celestial body. Explores Dark Wheel's specific language, environmental state changes over time, and the possibility that assumptions about its nature are incorrect.

Broad definition of 'celestial body' could include planets, moons, asteroids, or stars. Theory that Raxxla was a planet but no longer is, which would explain Dark Wheel's difficulty finding it and why search has been so unsuccessful.
A planet is a celestial body. TDW says it's a planet. Silent song of the spheres usually refers to planets in orbit. I would be a bit surprised if it turns out Raxxla isn't a planet. Click to expand... I personally don't think anything anyone says about Raxxla is a clue or can be taken as 100% word-for-word accurate, but assuming "celestial body" is an accurate statement of fact, then what does that cover? Example: https://www.universetoday.com/48671/celestial-body/ "The term celestial body is as expansive as the entire universe, both known and unknown. By definition a celestial body is any natural body outside of the Earth’s atmosphere. " What if Raxxla was a planet, but isn't now? That would make the search even harder, and explain why it's been so hard for TDW to find (maybe e...
Theory that Raxxla is simply an ELW in deep space with observable city lights on dark side. Present in game since version 1.0, unlikely to be visually special unless upgraded, suggesting straightforward planetary body rather than exotic object.
So now we have Raxxla out there ... and no clue as to what that means. Will this Raxxla conform to David's vision of the game or pay homage somehow to Holdstock? If the former than I don't think we should rule out a connection to the Thargoids. If the latter then we need more players reading Holdstock. Click to expand... I've always gone with the assumption that Raxxla in ED is just an ELW out in deep space with city lights on it's dark side. If Frontier is to be believed then it's been in the game since 1.0, so honestly it can't be anything super fancy or "special" unless they've upgraded it along the way, which I find doubtful. That's just my gut feeling. Now, as to where it is, welp anyone's guess is as good as any!
The Dark Wheel describes Raxxla as a planet. 'Silent song of the spheres' phrase typically refers to planets in orbit. Strong indication Raxxla is a planet rather than other celestial body type.
Look, so much has been posted in so many medias by so many people about Raxxla ... I, for myself, stick to the game and what MB actually said: there will be no clues ? mmmh..that's right, but you have to make a tiny part a little bit obvious so people know what they are doing. If someone here knows what he is doing, please let me know. [yesnod] But I bet, since MB left/was retired from ED, this also can have turned out to be no longer valid. Raxxla is no longer a certain celestial body? Ok. I would not be surprised by another FDevs inconsistency inside their own game ... EDIT: I suspect someone is erasing the net from some statements and declarations ... As I too can't find a DW declaration about the "alien background secret book" ... I am sure I read it somewhere but impossible to trac...
Uncertainty about what Raxxla actually is. Assumption that it is a planet or system is just one possibility among many. Nature of Raxxla remains fundamentally undefined.
Bear in mind the first war was fought between 3125 and 3152. The Thargoids then 'disappeared' for 100 years before Mic and Argent decided to go looking for them. I think you might be mixing up "the first war" with "the last game"? The Mycoid-vaccine event you're most probably referring to happened 100 years after the war, 50 years ago for us. The Alliance was very new and young in 3250 when FFE was set. Click to expand... Yes, I refer to what happened 50 years ago. Btt: what Raxxla concerns, we even do not know exactly what Raxxla is, that it is a planet or system is just one possibility of many. EDIT: today I just printed out "The Dark Wheel" and I'm looking forward reading it at the weekend .
Frontier has consistently stated that when found, Raxxla will present something entirely novel and unprecedented in the game, ruling out simple transparent planets or known phenomena.
It was four...but who's counting? I don't have a reddit account or I'd comment in the thread. But it looks like this thread has already been linked over there. For whatever my opinion is worth, the OP from reddit is 100% making it up. I spent a significant amount of time in all four systems with "raxxla" in their names. There were no USS's in any of them and no phantom planets. ETA: I signed up for reddit....what have I done? Click to expand... I'm not surprised by it anyway. Frontier has repeatedly stated that it would be something that we have never seen before. A transparent planet is not enough to prove its worth at all. His photoshop skills need some work, though, that's for sure. https://Please use another image host/3cMCBm6.png
Michael Brooks confirmed that players have already been through the system containing Raxxla without recognizing it, suggesting it exists in a location players could have accessed but failed to properly scan or identify.
https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDangerous/comments/8n7c92/raxxla_found/ terenn_nash 1 point·16 minutes ago Michael Brooks has said players have been through the system raxxla is in but hadnt scanned it, so random player passing by it not realizing what they were seeing, totally possible. that being said, Raxxla being so far out, unlikely. human ships couldnt get that far when it was originally discovered, it has to be in the bubble. Click to expand... Add this to my above post about an 8th planet. Maybe romilayu missed the 8th body. Or does it attribute him as the first scanner? someone said something like that too.. Someone should go check. 8) Everyone could have a big party at raxxla just for fun in case it's not there. You could all sit at the supposed spot where the 8th planet s...
Analysis that Braben's phrasing 'where it is' indicates Raxxla is stationary, and game engine limitations make galaxy-wide mobile bodies technically impossible.
Since the phrase used was “where it is” I think the only thing we know is that it is not a wandering celestial body. Click to expand... Not only that, I would think that, given the way that the game works, it wouldn't even be possible to have a celestial body navigating the galaxy. Sure, within a system there is rotation and orbit and travel, but the game handles that on a micro-level with instancing. I wouldn't think it would be able to handle that on a macro-level, galaxy wide.
Quote located on first page, second post of thread. Referenced as significant clue about Raxxla's nature, possibly related to witchspace or interdimensional access.
Would anyone mind saving me the trouble of trawling through here to find the full quote about "a place that isn't a place and a key being a door"? I think I'm onto something and I want to be absolutely sure before I put the proverbial pen to paper. Thanks! Click to expand... Lori Jameson theorizes Raxxla could be a living entity or unrecognized location that functions as a gate to the multiverse, accessible to all who wish to visit it.
Just been there it definitely exists ! Click to expand... Within our world, it does not. Ah, I still count Pluto! Mmm, seem to remember musing (during FRift days) about Persephone being the wife of Hades god of the Underworld, & the (Ishtar’s? My memory is hazy) journey to the Underworld being the basis for Salomé’s journey to enlightenment (discarded crown, etc). Now if Raxxla is “a door that is not a door, a lock that is also a key”, then is the Underworld cropping up again? Click to expand... Hard to say, really. My bet is on Lovecraft as It fits the themes far too well. A place that is not a place could mean a location with no recognized owner. Also, we know Raxxla has/is a gate to the Multiverse. What if Raxxla is a living thing, allowing all who wish to view/visit the M...
Raxxla may be a planet in another dimension that periodically manifests in our universe, potentially orbiting Rho Cassiopeiae which vanished as an entire solar system. This addresses both location and temporal mechanics, with Guardians possibly surviving through dimensional transit technology.
Don't think of my hypothesis as something fixed and written in stone, Scytale. It can evolve an adapt to new evidences and I like a lot your idea. The "Sirius escape route" may be something valid, except that Raxxla may be a planet in another dimension that occasionally appears in our universe. Perhaps is a problem of where... and when. I find your hypothesis very interesting. What if Rho Cassiopeiae vanished completely as an entire solar system, with Raxxla orbiting it? It would have been moved to another dimension or witch space. Guardians would have survived going there. Perhaps moving another stars, too. Although a way to travel to a new galaxy would be fine for exploration, but if they did it they may have invented intergalactic travel. Forgive me for trying to find a pattern in all...
