Theory that Raxxla consists of an artificial or constructed object (possibly a station or dodecahedron) orbiting or existing within a real system, with the actual location obscured through naming conventions or mechanical invisibility similar to historical mystery stations.

Theory that Raxxla consists of an artificial construction (possibly a dodecahedron station) orbiting a randomly-named planet, with the actual planet name obscured similar to how Jaques Station was named '80 DD-D 774-CE-2' to prevent discovery through galaxy map searches.
My bet is on an artificial construction in orbit around a planet. The Planet would be "Raxxla" and the construct would be how we players would interact with it. If it truly was in-game and findable since Gamma then planetary landing probably weren't a consideration. I'd really love it to be an old dodecahedron station existing out beyond the boundaries of the frontier. Click to expand... NICE! I'd love that, but i highly doubt that you will ever find a planet with the name "Raxxla". According to the books, it is heavily guarded and kept as a secret. If my ship computer all of the sudden recognizes a planet as Raxxla I would shout at it in fury, because it didn't tell me earlier, if it knew all along. It's most likely a random planet name and the construction orbiting it, is called Raxx...
In Elite lore, Soontill's secrecy was maintained through a large illusionary installation creating 'space fog' that obscured its surface. This suggests similar cloaking mechanisms could be used to hide Raxxla from detection.
There was already an inconsistency because in And Here The Wheel, which takes place just prior to the start of the game (and is supposedly canon), the location of Soontill was secret, and only revealed to a very small group via a stolen data crystal that bears a striking resemblance to one of those SAP-8 thingies. But hey, handwavium fixes everything. If the Thargoids can't find it now their intelligence is very, very bad indeed. Or perhaps the Soontill on the GalMap isn't really Soontill, and someone is being more cunning than we expect. I doubt that though. Click to expand... Soontill was only a secret because the Circle of Independent Elite Pilots kept it as such (there was a large illusionary instillation around the planet that obscured its surface. The "space fog"). Proposes Dyson Sphere construction as a mechanism to hide or obscure a star or solar system, with entrance/exit visible only from specific angles or selected observation points.
Have Dyson Spheres been considered in the enigma of Raxxla? It could be a way to hide a star or part of a solar system. I don't know if it could be made in the Cobra Engine. But perhaps a hole of entrance and exit in the sphere may be only visible from a certain angle of view (some selected stars, for example). Edit: Yes, it's been said a dozen of times. Well, the debate may focus in if the Cobra Graphic engine can handle a Dyson Sphere. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dyson_sphere
Proposes that Raxxla/the portal was built by Guardians that merged with their own AI, or by AI alone. Notes that Guardian AI are called 'constructs,' the same term Rafe Sefiter used to describe the portal on Raxxla, possibly representing a bridge between physical and digital Guardian worlds.
I'll do you one better. WHY is Raxxla?! Click to expand... If I were to guess, I would say that Raxxla/the Portal was built by the Guardians that merged with their own AI or possibly by just the AI. Guardian AI are called constructs. The same word Rafe setter used to describe the portal on Raxxla. Perhaps it's a bridge between their physical and their digital worlds?
Expansion on logo interpretation proposing 8 bridges (including up/down directions) referencing Oolite, with m1-m3 representing defenses and central dot as a Portal/Construct rather than a planet.
I took a look at the Raxxla logo from the codex and here is some tin-foil I came up with. Not sure if someone else had this idea before me but at least I don't know about it. Click to expand... Yeah, I stated something like that time ago here, "Bridges theory". Could be 8 bridges if we add one "up" and one "down". 8 like in Oolite... m1 to m3 could also be some kind of defenses and the dash/dot line the "obfuscation". The central dot being the Portal/Construct.. But I keep thinking Raxxla is obfuscated in the outer rim. May have been discovered near the Bubble and then "moved" away with the help of the new alien tech. Technically, "Raxxla" can be the very Construct, not an entire planet. Like it was on Lave2 moon.
Speculative theory that Raxxla could be a Dyson Sphere, providing sufficient power generation for theoretical portal and dimensional access functions.
Just for fun thought. Raxxla might some sort of Dyson Sphere. Would need a lot of power to do the things the speculated about such as a portal.
The Raxxla Codex symbol depicts a long hexagonal segmented prism representing either an artificial wormhole portal or tunnel into a Dyson sphere. The dotted inner hexagon represents tunnel stages, with the central dot indicating height perspective (similar to looking down from inside an elevator).
This is what Raxxla or the Omphalos Rift may look like, based on the thumbnail displayed in the Codex. Click to expand... Good work. My final opinion is that the Raxxla symbol depicts very long hexagonal segmented prism that is either portal (artificial wormhole) or a tunnel into Dyson sphere (some details hints the later one). Dotted inner hexagon depicts one of the many stages (tunnel parts). Dot in the middle hints height. In simple words - imagine standing in a lift, you are going down while looking at the glass floor. There is some math behind but it is irrelevant for the story.
Raxxla may have been substantially updated or revised since beta/pre-Horizons, similar to Zurara evolution. Could have transformed from unremarkable moon to surface artifacts/stations/ruins. Interaction methods may have changed from orbital station-based to surface-based mechanics.
I’d add that although Raxxla is likely to be in the place it’s always been since beta, we shouldn’t assume that it is as it’s been since the beginning. The zurara evolved along with the new tech implemented in game prior to its discovery. So perhaps Raxxla was an “unremarkable moon” durning beta and prior to Horizons. But it could have been sunstantially added to since then. Or even revised. Perhaps interaction with it (if there is/was any) was via an orbital station in beta and before horizons but since then that could have been amended to be surface artifacts/stations/ruins etc. Click to expand... Since I'm late to the party, I'm sure I'm rehashing "old news", but it would not surprise me at all if Raxxla is a Guardian world, perhaps even the Guardian home world. This relates to your ...
