The 'Darkness Falls' story provides the most detailed structural description of Raxxla as an ELW with orbiting construct featuring a gate and generator, though canonicity remains uncertain.

Analysis of 'Darkness Falls' story as closest lore description of Raxxla, though possibly not canon. References an Elite bar on an unlisted planet.
Well... Happy to see this is recovering interest!!! Just a comment on the rogue planets. It was initially believed (and think it was in the DDS as well) that you would be able to reach rogue planets by mis-jumps. This type of system is not in game as of yet, but it is common belief that rogue planets could be those planets that are orbiting no star in some systems, often with very large orbits. They can usually be recognized because instead of being attached to a star in the system map, they are bound to an "X". Although this "X" might as well represent sometimes the baricenter of twin stars, not sure about this... I do find it intriguing that Raxxla could be much closer than we think or even maybe inside the bubble as Drew commented. I personally think that Raxxla is a planet, but it mi...
In 'Darkness Falls' story, Raxxla described as ELW with orbiting construct: gate on one side, generator on other. Elites from bar attempt destruction.
In the story "Darkness Falls" they describe Raxxla as an ELW with a construct orbiting it. On one side is the gate, and on the other side of the planet is the generator. All Elites from that bar fly there to destroy it and succeed. I hope it's not behind a permit locked system, although very well possible.
Speculates Raxxla could be a hollowed-out asteroid with hyperspace engine similar to Jacques, or an intergalactic jump gate in orbit near Lave 2.
It could even be a hollowed out asteroid with a hyperspace engine of some sort, similar to Jacques. It could be an already discovered world/moon... and the inhabitants now long gone, or dead. It could be some sort of intergalactic jump gate (The original Elite had a concept of Galactic Hyperspace) in orbit somewhere near Lave 2, but like Voyager in Sol, unless you know where to look... If it is still a living world, and if it has it's own system, then it's one that's not been searched. If it's in the bubble, as some have suggested, it's going to be one of a few that are not being exploited by superpowers... or is it?
Questions if 'Darkness Falls' story (with gate orbiting planet and generator) is canon lore and relates to Raxxla with ELW base for elite rogue pilots.
Drew, as you are around... Do you know if "Darkness Falls" is lore? I don't think so, but who knows... It's the closest description I have ever heard about Raxxla until now! It contains the gate orbiting the planet at one side and a generator on the other side, plus they didn't have to travel much to get there. The Elite rogue pilots have a small base in the ELW (Raxxla).
Michael Brookes has stated that stories from the books will continue and influence the game. The Dark Wheel sequel involving Raxxla is described as a 'spiritual successor' that will be played out in the game, suggesting ED's Raxxla must be tightly bound to the novel's version.
I don't remember that specifically - I know in the fiction diaries (and maybe elsewhere) he says that the stories from the books will continue/influence the game. About 8mins into this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yrv3yC3wrg8&index=4&list=PL7glm5rbPHKway8jUwKEw6MeWjC4voHD4 I don't think I've specifically come across him saying anything about a book - however, he's said a lot, I'd be really interested if you can dig that one up Scytale! While looking for that, I found this for you MakahiGames, here's the bit where MB talks about the old alien races from Elite '84: about 9:40 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6z5OK8J5pg&list=PL7glm5rbPHKway8jUwKEw6MeWjC4voHD4
The Dark Wheel has influenced many aspects of Elite Dangerous lore despite not being canon itself. References like "Faraway" jump systems, "Oresrians", and the Ryder family appear in both the novel and game lore. Raxxla itself is entirely a Holdstock fabrication that has never appeared in any game until confirmed by developers for Elite Dangerous.
TDW is such an influential piece that many/most Elite fiction has been influenced by it, as have several aspects of Elite Dangerous Lore - for example "Faraway" jump system mentioned in TDW have never been in any game, but they appear in the history of hyperdrive in Elite Dangerous. Also the name "Oresrians" appeared in TDW and has now made it's way into Elite lore. There's a direct link with the Ryder family in the novel And Here The Wheel (set in the 3290's), and of course the idea of Raxxla is entirely a fabrication of Holdstock (it's never been in any game, or even mentioned by name). We only know it's in Elite Dangerous because it's been confirmed by the Devs. So while the actual book isn't Lore - it's influenced many aspects of Lore, which is why many people still consider it a good...
